Consolidating the peace? Views from Sierra Leone and Burundi on the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission
This report is a study of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) and its pilot interventions in Sierra Leone and Burundi. The analysis is based on research by ActionAid, CAFOD and CARE International UK, informed by extensive consultations with local communities and civil society in both countries, as well as interviews with government officials, experts and international donors and policy-makers.
The report shows that the PBC’s impact has been largely positive and well received, but that important challenges remain. Through this initiative, the sponsoring agencies hope to contribute to making the Peacebuilding Commission and the Peacebuilding Fund as effective as possible in improving the lives of the people on the ground most affected by conflict.
